The Raam Naami tribe of Chattisgarh, belongs to the bottom of the caste pyramid. They were forced to turn their bodies into temples by tattooing the name "Ram" all over including their eyelids.
Despite the challenges they faced due to their social status, the Ramnamis have created a supportive community where faith, tradition, and resistance to social norms intersect. Their unique way of expressing devotion serves as a powerful symbol of their identity and resilience in the face of adversity.
Now the modernism that's being adapted by the younger generation as well as the fear of not being accepted in the society, has led to the children of these tribes no longer following their tattooed traditions.
